Sekai o iji (SOI Furniture) designs and produces contemporary style furniture using the minimum of materials that are from sustainable sources. We prioritise the use of composite sheet fibreboards that are sustainable medium density fibreboards utilising a formaldehyde-free adhesive system and pre-consumer recycled wood fibre.

SOI is developing a series of furniture designs using standardised component dimensions and removable fixings that avoid the use of glue and enable furniture to be simply disassembled.

In addition, the use of standardised components is intended to enable furniture panels and sections to be re-used or recycled if a consumers need changes. For example, a TV cabinet can be changed into a coffee table or a chest of drawers by trading back to SOI components no longer needed and purchasing new sections. The intention is to eliminate waste and to enable sustainable furniture with a multi generational life span, irrespective of changes in requirements.

Core to our concept designs is the SOI Cut Cube. This provides a multipurpose stackable furniture product with multi uses including within it cable management and customisable pre and post production finishes.

The SOI Cut Cube is multifunctional and suitable within all rooms of the house including use as kitchen cabinets.

SOI Furniture is designed for adaptability and multi generational use.
